Product Overview

A butyl rubber bung for pharmaceutical packaging is developed as part of a specific container closure system. Dimensions, color and compound details can be tailored to the intended design. Selection must consider the plug and container together rather than treating the loose stopper as a universally suitable closure.

Compare the container opening, seating surface and intended retention arrangement. The plug should reach its defined position without folding an edge or contacting an internal feature prematurely. The exposed portion also needs to work with the equipment used to place or remove the closure.

For a pharmaceutical application, the selected formulation, contents and processing conditions must be compatible. Cleaning, sterilization and storage conditions belong to that evaluation where they apply. Suitability for a particular pharmaceutical use requires assessment of the complete system, including closure integrity and contact with the intended contents; a generic material name is insufficient.

Keep parts protected from contamination throughout handling and assembly. Do not mix versions that share a color but use different formulations or dimensions. Inspect fitted closures for uneven seating and damage before they enter the intended process. Any change to the container neck or plug compound should be assessed as a change to the closure system rather than assumed equivalent because the outside appearance remains similar.

Material options
Butyl rubber compound options, customized alongside the profile and contact conditions.
Hardness selection
Solid rubber options: 30–90 Shore A. Compare the container opening, seating surface and intended retention arrangement.
Custom geometry
Do not mix versions that share a color but use different formulations or dimensions.
Fit evaluation
Inspect fitted closures for uneven seating and damage before they enter the intended process.
Color & OEM
Custom colors; OEM identification positioned outside closure contact surfaces.

Ordering this custom component

Can the shape be adjusted to my mating parts?

Yes. Show the receiving opening, contact surfaces and clearance limits. We can review the dimensions and retaining features around the intended fit.

Which details should be agreed before tooling?

Agree the critical dimensions, material, hardness, visible surfaces and sample requirements. Explain how the part is installed and which interfaces control its function.

Can a sample help define the replacement?

A sample can help explain the structure. Compare it with the assembly because wear, swelling or compression may have changed its original dimensions.

How is the quotation for this part determined?

The material, part geometry, tooling, quantity and finishing affect the quotation. Include the intended batch size and delivery destination when describing your requirements.
