Custom protective rubber rings provide a flexible boundary at a designated opening or contact area. The ring profile should remain located where the assembly needs that protection, with the retained section matched to the surrounding material and the inner area clear for the intended routed item.
Develop the dimensions and compound around the actual interface rather than choosing only a convenient outer diameter. Include the edge condition, thickness and direction of contact when evaluating the shape. The rubber should complement a prepared opening rather than conceal burrs or damaged material beneath it.
Fit the ring evenly and inspect the contact after the surrounding components reach their final positions. If the routed item moves during operation, evaluate the relevant movement so contact remains within the protected area. During servicing, examine the ring and mating edge together. A ring that appears intact may still be loose because the opening has changed, so correct the underlying fit before replacing only the visible rubber component.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. If the routed item moves during operation, evaluate the relevant movement so contact remains within the protected area. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
