Stepped grommets use changes in diameter or section to meet a particular cable-entry geometry. Each shoulder needs a defined relationship with the mating panel or component. A stepped outline should not be matched by its largest diameter alone, since an incorrect intermediate feature can stop the part from seating.
Review a section through the opening and identify which step provides location, which area contacts the cable and where clearance remains. Check the order in which the part passes through the opening during installation. A shoulder that looks suitable in the final position still needs a practical insertion path.
ETOL can customize the profile, material, hardness and color. Assess wear resistance in relation to the actual cable movement and edge condition rather than treating it as a fixed service-life claim.
Identify the insertion direction on the assembly reference if the stepped profile is not symmetrical. Compare the seated shoulder with a fixed feature on the mating part so partial insertion is visible. Where several steps have close dimensions, retain the full section in the approved specification; a list of outside diameters without their axial positions can describe a different fit.
Fit the sample without cutting or folding a locating shoulder. Inspect the seated position from both sides where possible, then route the cable and check that its movement does not displace the steps. If the grommet repeatedly stops short, examine the matching section instead of forcing the rubber farther into the opening. Keep the full stepped drawing with the replacement specification so every locating feature is retained.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. A stepped outline should not be matched by its largest diameter alone, since an incorrect intermediate feature can stop the part from seating. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
