A rubber test plug for a pipe is developed around a particular opening and test arrangement. The pipe's internal dimensions, end condition and available engagement depth determine the closure geometry. Any pressure involved requires an evaluated system that includes the plug, its retention and the test equipment; a fitted rubber body alone does not establish a pressure rating.
ETOL can customize the structure, silicone or other selected rubber material, dimensions, hardness and color. Define the medium, temperature and intended exposure duration so the compound and contact profile can be assessed together. The installation method should place the plug consistently at its designed seat.
Inspect the pipe bore for burrs, deposits or damage that could interrupt contact. A local irregularity may cut the plug or create a path beside it even when the nominal diameter is correct. Use the restraint and operating procedure established for the test system, including its method of releasing stored pressure before removal.
A test setup should also provide a consistent way to confirm the plug position before operation. Changes in insertion depth between runs can alter the available contact and restraint geometry. Establish that position using the developed assembly features rather than an approximate visual judgment of the exposed head.
After use, examine the contact area for cuts, extrusion marks or permanent deformation. Repeated damage at the same location can identify a problem in the pipe end or seating arrangement. Keep plugs identified by their intended configuration, since visually similar custom parts may use different geometry or compounds and should not be interchanged solely on appearance.
Photos illustrate structure or material appearance only. Changes in insertion depth between runs can alter the available contact and restraint geometry. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
FIND THE RIGHT FIT
Choose a blind-hole, tapered, undercut or solid T-shaped profile, then compare its dimensions with the opening and available seating depth. Each profile has its own drawing and dimension meanings.
155 T-shaped plug sizes. Match shank diameter A, head diameter B, shank length C and head thickness D. E is the bottom blind-hole diameter; E = 0 indicates a solid shank.
