Custom tapered silicone grommets provide a changing profile along a protective sleeve or opening interface. The narrow and wider sections should be coordinated with the component being covered or passed through. The taper can define the available contact and clearance, but it also makes installation orientation important.
Establish which end enters first and where the component should stop. A narrow section forced over an unsuitable shoulder can stretch excessively or fold inward. The longer profile should remain clear of surrounding hardware, with enough room for the intended cable or component route at its exit. Inspect both ends after fitting instead of relying on the visible outer shoulder alone.
Choose the silicone formulation and hardness for the actual exposure and movement. Keep the inner passage clean and prevent sharp ends from cutting it during assembly. If the sleeve moves with the enclosed component, assess the full range so the taper is not pinched against nearby structure. A replacement should preserve the profile along its entire length, not just match the diameter at one end.
Photos illustrate structure or material appearance only. Custom tapered silicone grommets provide a changing profile along a protective sleeve or opening interface. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
