Product Overview

A silicone gasket for a glass storage jar should be developed with the actual glass lid and jar rim. Glass component variation can influence where the gasket is compressed, so the full closure needs assessment rather than selecting a ring from a single nominal diameter. The gasket should remain supported around its intended contact path.

Custom dimensions, hardness and color can follow the jar design. Select the silicone formulation for the stored contents and cleaning conditions. Define how the lid closes and how the gasket is retained before pressure is applied by that closing arrangement.

Check representative lids and jars together. Inspect for a tilted lid, a ring dragged sideways or a section that projects unevenly from the seat. Evaluate the completed closure for its intended airtightness and storage conditions; no storage life should be inferred from the gasket alone.

The available space for the ring should also be checked at the smallest and largest mating dimensions expected in the jar family. A seal stretched to fit one lid may occupy its section differently from the same ring on another. Compare the installed contact rather than judging only whether the lid can close.

During cleaning, remove residue from both the glass contact surfaces and the gasket. Inspect for cuts or lasting distortion before refitting. If the seal repeatedly shifts, review the lid alignment and retaining geometry rather than increasing closing force to compensate for a misplaced ring.

Material options
Silicone. Custom formulation and color for the intended contact conditions.
Hardness selection
Silicone: 20–80 Shore A. If the seal repeatedly shifts, review the lid alignment and retaining geometry rather than increasing closing force to compensate for a misplaced ring.
Custom dimensions
The available space for the ring should also be checked at the smallest and largest mating dimensions expected in the jar family.
Fit & assembly
Compare the installed contact rather than judging only whether the lid can close.
Use & inspection
During cleaning, remove residue from both the glass contact surfaces and the gasket.

Ordering this custom component

Can the shape be adjusted to my mating parts?

Yes. Show the receiving opening, contact surfaces and clearance limits. We can review the dimensions and retaining features around the intended fit.

Which details should be agreed before tooling?

Agree the critical dimensions, material, hardness, visible surfaces and sample requirements. Explain how the part is installed and which interfaces control its function.

Can a sample help define the replacement?

A sample can help explain the structure. Compare it with the assembly because wear, swelling or compression may have changed its original dimensions.

How is the quotation for this part determined?

The material, part geometry, tooling, quantity and finishing affect the quotation. Include the intended batch size and delivery destination when describing your requirements.
