A silicone heat-resistant plug provides a custom flexible closure where thermal exposure and compression are part of the installation. The fit should be evaluated across the actual operating cycle, including the condition in which the plug is installed and later removed. The compound and geometry need to support that use together.
Define the contact band and the amount of engagement intended by the design. Excessive compression at installation can make removal difficult or obscure a mismatch in the opening profile. Check the surrounding space so the plug does not press against another component as the assembly reaches its working condition. Custom dimensions and material choices allow the closure to follow that relationship.
Assess warming, sustained exposure and cooling where those stages occur in use. Keep the intended thermal limit specific to the finished material and application, and do not transfer a broad value between rubber alternatives. Once the component is safe to handle, inspect the plug for changed seating or damage in the compressed region. Replace a part that no longer returns to a consistent fit and address the exposure or geometry that caused the change.
Photos illustrate structure or material appearance only. Excessive compression at installation can make removal difficult or obscure a mismatch in the opening profile. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
FIND THE RIGHT FIT
Choose a blind-hole, tapered, undercut or solid T-shaped profile, then compare its dimensions with the opening and available seating depth. Each profile has its own drawing and dimension meanings.
155 T-shaped plug sizes. Match shank diameter A, head diameter B, shank length C and head thickness D. E is the bottom blind-hole diameter; E = 0 indicates a solid shank.
