Match the attachment and installation method
A silicone dust stopper or rubber dust plug closes an unused opening with a custom fitted body. Structure, dimensions, hardness and color can be selected for the component being protected. The profile should establish contact at the intended seat while leaving a manageable exterior if the opening will be accessed later.
Think about what happens when the plug is removed. Dust collected around its perimeter should be cleared before it can fall into the opening. The exposed area should be accessible enough for controlled removal without pushing a tool through the plug or levering against the component's edge.
Match the material to the local environment and cleaning method. Check the fit with the surrounding hardware installed, including any cover that limits access. Before refitting, inspect the body and remove debris from both contacting surfaces. A stopper with a torn edge or lasting distortion should be replaced rather than pushed farther inward. Keeping the closure clean during handling is part of protecting the opening between uses.
Photos illustrate structure or material appearance only. The profile should establish contact at the intended seat while leaving a manageable exterior if the opening will be accessed later. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
FIND THE RIGHT FIT
Choose a blind-hole, tapered, undercut or solid T-shaped profile, then compare its dimensions with the opening and available seating depth. Each profile has its own drawing and dimension meanings.
155 T-shaped plug sizes. Match shank diameter A, head diameter B, shank length C and head thickness D. E is the bottom blind-hole diameter; E = 0 indicates a solid shank.
