A rubber electrical grommet protects wiring at an automotive panel opening by placing a molded interface between the harness and the rigid edge. Its position in the vehicle determines the important design details: the harness may move with a nearby assembly, remain fixed to the body or need clearance for service removal.
Map the movement on both sides of the opening before selecting the profile. The clips nearest the panel should guide the harness without holding the grommet under constant sideways tension. Where assembly tolerances shift the cable route, allow that variation in the design instead of assuming the harness will always sit on the hole centerline.
The material, color and dimensions can be customized for the mounting location. Evaluate exposure to moisture, heat and any fluids encountered there using the chosen compound and cable jacket. During fitting, check for damaged paint or burrs around the opening and seat the retaining feature fully. After the vehicle assembly is complete, inspect again with neighboring components in place, since their installation can alter the harness path and load the grommet unexpectedly.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. Map the movement on both sides of the opening before selecting the profile. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
