Product Overview

A silicone clear plug offers a closure whose appearance can make some aspects of seating easier to observe. The degree of visibility depends on the chosen silicone, wall thickness, surface finish and lighting. Select the finished appearance around the part's practical inspection needs rather than assuming the plug will behave like an optical window.

ETOL can mold the plug to suit the opening and required handling area, with hardness and dimensions developed for that fit. A thicker body may provide a different handling feel while also changing what can be seen through it. Examine the fitted sample under the lighting available at the assembly station, including whether an uneven seat or trapped residue can actually be identified.

For heated applications, establish the operating conditions for the selected formulation and complete assembly. The clear appearance does not indicate a temperature rating or confirm that the plug has remained undamaged after exposure.

Clean the closure using a compatible method and avoid abrasive tools that can cloud or score its surface. When inspecting it, check the contacting edge directly as well as looking through the body. A plug can still appear clear while a cut at the perimeter affects its fit. Replace a damaged part before it is returned to service.

Material options
Custom silicone compound; formulation and geometry developed together.
Hardness selection
Silicone options: 20–80 Shore A. ETOL can mold the plug to suit the opening and required handling area, with hardness and dimensions developed for that fit.
Custom geometry
The degree of visibility depends on the chosen silicone, wall thickness, surface finish and lighting.
Fit evaluation
When inspecting it, check the contacting edge directly as well as looking through the body.
Color & OEM
Custom colors; OEM identification positioned outside closure contact surfaces.

Review the fit and agreed requirements in the assembly

04

Produce & inspect

Manufacture and check against the approved requirements

Review the intended assembly

Working conditions

Identify temperature, contact fluids and repeated movement.

Material and structure

Consider hardness together with wall thickness and support.

Installation

Check access, mating dimensions and the fitting sequence.

Ordering this custom component

Can the shape be adjusted to my mating parts?

Yes. Show the receiving opening, contact surfaces and clearance limits. We can review the dimensions and retaining features around the intended fit.

Which details should be agreed before tooling?

Agree the critical dimensions, material, hardness, visible surfaces and sample requirements. Explain how the part is installed and which interfaces control its function.

Can a sample help define the replacement?

A sample can help explain the structure. Compare it with the assembly because wear, swelling or compression may have changed its original dimensions.

How is the quotation for this part determined?

The material, part geometry, tooling, quantity and finishing affect the quotation. Include the intended batch size and delivery destination when describing your requirements.
