A Compression grommet is developed to work within a mating arrangement that compresses the rubber into its intended contact. The surrounding hardware and the cable size therefore need to be considered together; adding more compression is not a substitute for selecting the correct profile.
Establish the assembled space available for the rubber and the way force reaches it. Uneven closure can squeeze one side much more than the other, shifting the bore off center. ETOL can customize the dimensions, material, hardness and color around the specified interface.
Use the actual cable jacket when checking the fit. A thicker covering or local splice can change compression within the bore even if the outer mounting arrangement is unchanged. Keep the wire centered while the assembly closes, and inspect for rubber being forced out through an unintended gap.
Any required sealing function should be evaluated at the designed assembled condition. Avoid tightening beyond that condition to compensate for a damaged seat or incompatible cable. During maintenance, release the compression before moving the lead so the contact surface is not dragged against a restrained jacket. Check for permanent flattening, cuts or displaced rubber before reassembly, and correct the cause of uneven compression rather than hiding it beneath additional force.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. A thicker covering or local splice can change compression within the bore even if the outer mounting arrangement is unchanged. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
