A rubber strain relief grommet cushions an electrical lead at its enclosure exit. The silicone component can be customized around the panel and cable, with structure, size, hardness and color adjusted to the design. Its function should be coordinated with the lead attachment inside the equipment.
Allow sufficient internal cable length for the intended connection without placing the terminal under tension. Any required pull restraint needs an appropriate arrangement, while the grommet protects the crossing and supports the transition into the external route. A tight hole around the cable should not be the only consideration in that design.
Check the assembly with the enclosure closed. A cover can press on the internal lead and change how it sits in the grommet. Look for a sleeve leaning against the cutout or an inner lip displaced by the cable. Evaluate the selected silicone for the equipment's material and electrical requirements as part of the complete design.
During repairs, release the intended cable restraint before moving the lead through the entry. Inspect the jacket and rubber afterward for cuts or distortion. Restoring the original internal routing helps preserve the fit at the panel instead of transferring new tension to the grommet.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. Look for a sleeve leaning against the cutout or an inner lip displaced by the cable. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
