Product Overview

Function keypads can arrange molded silicone buttons around the way a product is operated. A useful layout gives frequently used commands an accessible position while keeping occasional controls identifiable. This can be more effective than making every button the same size and distributing them uniformly across the available panel.

Begin with the operating sequence and the space available in the enclosure. A key that needs repeated presses should be reachable without forcing the user to stretch across other controls. Its top shape and surrounding clearance should work with the intended finger approach. The underside geometry must still align with the electrical components, so changes to the visible layout need to be coordinated with the board arrangement.

During development, compare the behavior of controls in different parts of the sheet. Corner buttons, long buttons, and tightly grouped controls can respond differently because their surrounding support differs. Use the final housing for this comparison; a flexible part lying loose on a table cannot represent all of those constraints.

Assess identification and physical operation together after representative use and cleaning. A control that still moves correctly may become difficult to use if its marking is no longer clear. Conversely, an undamaged legend does not rule out a key that catches or fails to return freely.

Material options
Silicone. Custom formulation and color for the intended contact conditions.
Hardness selection
Silicone: 20–80 Shore A. A key that needs repeated presses should be reachable without forcing the user to stretch across other controls.

Ordering this custom component

Can the shape be adjusted to my mating parts?

Yes. Show the receiving opening, contact surfaces and clearance limits. We can review the dimensions and retaining features around the intended fit.

Which details should be agreed before tooling?

Agree the critical dimensions, material, hardness, visible surfaces and sample requirements. Explain how the part is installed and which interfaces control its function.

Can a sample help define the replacement?

A sample can help explain the structure. Compare it with the assembly because wear, swelling or compression may have changed its original dimensions.

How is the quotation for this part determined?

The material, part geometry, tooling, quantity and finishing affect the quotation. Include the intended batch size and delivery destination when describing your requirements.
