Screw damper pads combine a defined fastening arrangement with a rubber contact layer. In a custom silent block or buffer installation, the hardware must secure the part while leaving the intended flexible section able to work. The mounting seat and the deforming body therefore need different attention during assembly.
Check where the fastener's clamping force is applied. An oversized washer or surrounding plate can unintentionally constrain more of the rubber than the design intends. A narrow contact can create the opposite problem by concentrating the force at a small area. The selected hardware should match the actual attachment geometry.
Leave clearance around the working section and align the mating parts before tightening. Material choice should reflect the load direction and exposure environment. Evaluate movement with the complete assembly installed, since a rigid connection beside the pad can change the result. During inspection, look for unusual impressions near the fastener as well as general rubber damage; those marks can show whether the support has been clamped in an unintended way.
