EPDM rubber grommets for cable passages provide a molded interface between wiring and a panel opening. The custom profile can match the equipment wall and the cable route, covering the edge where it would otherwise contact the jacket. The compound should be selected for the environment at that specific entry.
Check the opening size, finished wall thickness, and cable outside shape. These dimensions control different parts of the fit, so a correct cable bore does not compensate for an unsuitable retaining groove. The installation sequence also needs to account for any connector larger than the passage.
Remove burrs before fitting and inspect the retaining edges after seating the insert. Route the cable with sufficient slack and provide the support required by the equipment design. The grommet should not be continuously pulled sideways by the harness. During maintenance, inspect the entry after moving the wiring, looking for a folded edge or cut rubber. Any required sealing, electrical, or pull-retention performance belongs to the complete assembly and must be established for that design.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. The installation sequence also needs to account for any connector larger than the passage. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
