A silicone rubber stopper closes an opening by engaging inside it, while a cap covers an outside feature. Choosing the closure style around the actual mating geometry helps define the useful contact length and the area available for handling. The two formats should not be selected using the same nominal diameter without considering which surface it describes.
Measure the opening or outer feature, its depth, and any shoulder that limits seating. Allow access to the exposed portion so removal can be controlled. Select the rubber compound for the intended medium, temperature, and frequency of servicing.
Fit without twisting the contact section into a fold and keep the seating surface free of grit. Where the closure performs a sealing duty, assess the complete connection under the relevant pressure or exposure. During maintenance, inspect the contact region and the handling feature separately for damage. A cap that has stretched loose or a stopper that no longer recovers its shape should be replaced with the intended profile rather than modified to regain a temporary fit.
Photos illustrate structure or material appearance only. Choosing the closure style around the actual mating geometry helps define the useful contact length and the area available for handling. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
FIND THE RIGHT FIT
Choose a blind-hole, tapered, undercut or solid T-shaped profile, then compare its dimensions with the opening and available seating depth. Each profile has its own drawing and dimension meanings.
155 T-shaped plug sizes. Match shank diameter A, head diameter B, shank length C and head thickness D. E is the bottom blind-hole diameter; E = 0 indicates a solid shank.
