Neoprene rubber cable grommets place a molded rubber barrier between a cable jacket and the edge of an equipment opening. The custom profile can be sized for the wall and the wire route, giving the cable a defined passage instead of allowing it to rest directly on the panel edge.
For a location exposed to elevated temperatures, select the compound against the conditions at the actual cable entry. Nearby components, operating cycles, and enclosed airflow can produce a different environment from the room around the equipment. The cable jacket and any surrounding plastic parts must also suit that environment; changing the grommet alone does not establish a temperature rating for the assembly.
Fit depends on hole size, panel thickness, and cable outside diameter. A cable held under sideways tension can deform the opening even when these dimensions initially match. Arrange the cable route before the final inspection, then check for lifted edges or compressed sections. During maintenance, replace a damaged insert instead of leaving the cable against an exposed cutout.
