Product Overview

Closed grommets cover panel openings with a molded center rather than provide an open route for a cable. The center profile and retaining section must suit the intended blanking position. Hardness selection affects fitting and deformation, but a harder silicone formulation is not automatically a better match for the same hole.

Check the panel thickness, receiving diameter and clearance behind the opening. The outer head should reach its intended seat while the retaining feature engages without being folded. The selected material needs to suit the exposure at that location, with any sealing requirement evaluated on the complete joint.

Install into a smooth cutout and inspect around the visible edge for incomplete seating. Cutting through the center changes the original function and should not be assumed to create suitable cable protection. During removal or replacement, preserve the retaining profile rather than forcing a differently shaped part into the opening. A grommet that hides the hole can still be loose beneath its visible face.

Material options: Custom silicone or rubber formulation, with dimensions and color adapted to the mating component.
Hardness range: Silicone: 20–80 Shore A; rubber: 30–90 Shore A. Assess the grade against this fit requirement: Hardness selection affects fitting and deformation, but a harder silicone formulation is not automatically a better match for the same hole.
