A thermos seal gasket should fit the lid and bottle opening as a complete closure. The retaining recess, rim and closing movement determine where compression occurs. A gasket that has been removed for cleaning needs to return to that intended position without twisting or leaving a folded section.
Custom materials, dimensions, hardness and color allow the part to follow the bottle design. Select the formulation for the contents, contact temperature and cleaning method. The finished closure should be evaluated for its intended storage orientation and operating conditions.
Before refitting, clean both the gasket and its seat, including narrow regions that can hold residue. Work the gasket evenly into place and inspect the perimeter before closing the lid. Check that the lid reaches its normal position without unusual resistance. During reuse, look for cuts or lasting flattening around the contact area. If the gasket repeatedly slips during closure, review the retaining fit and lid movement rather than using extra closing force to hold a displaced seal in position.
