A 2mm groove grommet with a nominal 30 mm outside diameter provides a defined starting profile for a cable-entry edge protector. The groove width relates to the panel thickness, while the outside diameter describes the flange. The mounting hole must be selected from the actual groove diameter, not cut to the outside size.
Check the complete section before modifying a panel. Include the clear passage needed for the cable and the space around the flange on both sides. A nearby screw head or rib can keep the rear flange from seating even when the front looks correct.
The profile can be customized in material, hardness, color and dimensions. A nominal 2 mm panel match should still be checked on the finished component, including any coating or local thickness variation at the opening.
Keep a distinction between a single sheet and a stack of layers at the entry. An overlapping panel, folded return or added backing can change the thickness that the groove must accept. If the flange bridges that change, one section may sit differently from the rest. Inspect the complete mounting region rather than measuring only a convenient nearby sheet edge.
Deburr the cutout and seat the groove continuously around the edge. Route the cable without stretching the rubber loose, then inspect the hidden side before closing the enclosure. If the fit is loose, verify the groove diameter and panel dimensions rather than assuming a harder compound will correct the mismatch.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. The groove width relates to the panel thickness, while the outside diameter describes the flange. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
