A silicone cable plug can be customized around a cable entry in an automotive assembly. The required shape depends on whether the position carries a cable or remains closed, and on the way the plug engages the panel. Material choice should follow the environment and the intended flexibility of the component.
For a populated entry, establish the cable's outside size and the amount of movement expected near the panel. The passage should accommodate that cable without forcing a sharp bend immediately outside the opening. For a blank position, use a closure profile suited to the unused hole rather than assuming that any cable-entry shape will close it completely.
Panel thickness and opening finish affect retention. Remove sharp burrs before fitting, and check the rubber around the entire perimeter after the cable is positioned. A plug should not be used to compensate for unsupported cable weight or excessive pull. Provide the appropriate cable support within the assembly, and inspect the entry after routing changes that alter the direction of the cable.
Photos illustrate structure or material appearance only. The required shape depends on whether the position carries a cable or remains closed, and on the way the plug engages the panel. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
