A cable entry grommet should remain inspectable after the lead is routed, especially where the rear flange is hidden by another component. The flexible material protects the cut edge only when it stays in the intended position. Planning access makes a displaced or folded section easier to identify before the enclosure is closed.
Compare the opening with the sequence in which nearby parts are fitted. Check whether the cable can be routed before access to the rear face is lost. Custom geometry and hardness can be selected to suit the mounting space, but they do not remove the need to confirm seating.
Fit the grommet to a finished edge and inspect around its perimeter after the largest cable component has passed through. Keep the cable supported while arranging the rest of the assembly so the entry is not pulled sideways. During servicing, reopen the necessary access area rather than judging the hidden flange from the visible front alone. A recurring seating problem should be addressed through the fit or assembly sequence, not accepted as an unavoidable feature of flexible rubber.
