Product Overview

A conductive carbon pill keypad combines custom silicone button geometry with conductive elements positioned beneath the operating faces. Each pill must correspond to the intended circuit contact. The upper layout and underside pattern therefore need to be developed as one component, even when the visible buttons vary in size or shape.

Begin with the circuit contact positions and the enclosure's locating features. The keypad base should register reliably to those references without being stretched into alignment. Button travel and the available space below each face determine how the carbon pill approaches the contact during operation.

For a mixed layout, evaluate larger and smaller keys individually. An off-center press on a broad button can create a different movement from a centered press on a narrow one. The surrounding web and housing support should keep both actions within the intended operating geometry. Color and molded identification can then support the visible organization of the controls.

Handle the underside cleanly during installation, keeping loose particles away from the conductive regions. Before closing the enclosure, verify the mat's orientation and check that no edge is trapped beneath a support. Test every control after final assembly, including release after a held press. If servicing requires removal, preserve the original locating relationship when refitting the keypad.

Material options
Silicone. Custom formulation and color for the intended contact conditions.
Hardness selection
Silicone: 20–80 Shore A. An off-center press on a broad button can create a different movement from a centered press on a narrow one.
Custom dimensions
Begin with the circuit contact positions and the enclosure's locating features.
Fit & assembly
Before closing the enclosure, verify the mat's orientation and check that no edge is trapped beneath a support.
Use & inspection
If servicing requires removal, preserve the original locating relationship when refitting the keypad.

Ordering this custom component

Can the shape be adjusted to my mating parts?

Yes. Show the receiving opening, contact surfaces and clearance limits. We can review the dimensions and retaining features around the intended fit.

Which details should be agreed before tooling?

Agree the critical dimensions, material, hardness, visible surfaces and sample requirements. Explain how the part is installed and which interfaces control its function.

Can a sample help define the replacement?

A sample can help explain the structure. Compare it with the assembly because wear, swelling or compression may have changed its original dimensions.

How is the quotation for this part determined?

The material, part geometry, tooling, quantity and finishing affect the quotation. Include the intended batch size and delivery destination when describing your requirements.
