A chloroprene rubber closed grommet can occupy a panel opening that needs to remain blank in the finished configuration. Its center closes the passage while the perimeter holds the component in place. That solid center should be protected during assembly so temporary tools or wiring operations do not leave a cut in a part intended to remain closed.
Choose the outer profile and retaining groove around the cutout and finished panel thickness. The compound should be selected for the actual environment on both sides of the panel. Where a washer style component is needed elsewhere in the assembly, keep that open format separate from the closed blanking part.
Install after operations likely to damage the opening are complete, and check that the panel edge is smooth. Seat the full perimeter without driving a pointed object into the center to gain leverage. During service, examine both the rim and closure for damage. If the opening later changes function, replace the blank with the appropriate designed component rather than modifying it in place.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. The compound should be selected for the actual environment on both sides of the panel. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
