A custom groove thickness silicone grommet is developed around the receiving wall as well as the central passage. The space between the retaining lips needs to suit the finished panel thickness so the insert locates correctly. This dimension should be considered independently from the opening diameter and cable bore.
Include paint or other finishes when checking the wall. An overly narrow retaining space can leave a lip folded, while an excessively wide one can allow the rubber to move. The edge shape and any local changes in thickness also affect seating.
Remove burrs before installation and work the grommet into place without cutting the lip. Inspect the full perimeter, then route the cable and check again after its supports are fixed. The compound should suit the actual environment and contacted substances. During replacement, preserve the correct groove relationship rather than selecting only by the visible flange size. Recheck the seating after wiring service so a displaced edge does not leave the cable jacket against the panel.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. The space between the retaining lips needs to suit the finished panel thickness so the insert locates correctly. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
