Product Overview

A silicone O ring provides a circular rubber sealing element within a custom assembly. Its dimensions should match the receiving groove and the intended compression, with the exact compound selected for the service conditions. An aircraft-related application requires the ring to be specified as part of that particular approved assembly.

The general shape and material name do not establish suitability for flight-critical use. The medium, temperature, pressure, movement, and installation requirements all belong to the defined component application. Where food contact is involved in a separate use, the compound must suit those particular contact and cleaning conditions as well. These are distinct requirements rather than interchangeable labels.

Check the groove geometry and the mating surfaces before fitting the ring. The rubber needs enough space to deform as designed without being pinched or left loose. Keep the ring clean, avoid twist during installation, and use only the handling and assembly aids appropriate to the selected material and process. Inspect the completed joint under its specified conditions. During maintenance, the replacement must match the required dimensions and compound, and any damage or wear in the receiving assembly needs attention before a new ring is installed. A similar-looking ring should never be selected solely by diameter for a defined aerospace component.

Material options
Silicone. Custom formulation and color for the intended contact conditions.
Hardness selection
Silicone: 20–80 Shore A. The medium, temperature, pressure, movement, and installation requirements all belong to the defined component application.
Custom dimensions
A similar-looking ring should never be selected solely by diameter for a defined aerospace component.
Fit & assembly
Keep the ring clean, avoid twist during installation, and use only the handling and assembly aids appropriate to the selected material and process.
Use & inspection
During maintenance, the replacement must match the required dimensions and compound, and any damage or wear in the receiving assembly needs attention before a new ring is installed.

Ordering this custom component

Can the shape be adjusted to my mating parts?

Yes. Show the receiving opening, contact surfaces and clearance limits. We can review the dimensions and retaining features around the intended fit.

Which details should be agreed before tooling?

Agree the critical dimensions, material, hardness, visible surfaces and sample requirements. Explain how the part is installed and which interfaces control its function.

Can a sample help define the replacement?

A sample can help explain the structure. Compare it with the assembly because wear, swelling or compression may have changed its original dimensions.

How is the quotation for this part determined?

The material, part geometry, tooling, quantity and finishing affect the quotation. Include the intended batch size and delivery destination when describing your requirements.
