An oval rubber grommet fits an elongated panel opening, making both its long and short dimensions relevant to selection. The corner transitions and retaining groove also need to suit the cutout. Matching only the maximum width can leave the insert loose at the ends or overly compressed along its sides.
Measure the opening shape together with panel thickness and the cable arrangement passing through the center. The outer profile retains the grommet in the panel; the inner profile provides space around the cable or group of cables. Do not assume a large outer oval means every cable grouping will pass comfortably through its center.
Seat the insert evenly around the complete cutout and inspect the curved ends for folded lips. Route the cable so that it does not pull persistently against one end of the oval. During maintenance, check wear at those loaded areas and at the panel edge beneath the flange. Any required sealing or strain relief function should be established for the complete installation rather than inferred from the grommet outline.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. The corner transitions and retaining groove also need to suit the cutout. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
FIND THE RIGHT FIT
Choose a through-hole or blind-hole profile, then compare the dimensions for your panel and cable arrangement.
