Product Overview

Custom silicone computer keypads place a molded key field within a computer control or keyboard assembly. The layout, key proportions, and supporting sheet can be adapted to the housing and underlying switch arrangement. The whole field needs consistent location so the visible controls remain aligned with their operating areas.

The enclosure affects both movement and environmental protection. A perimeter that is compressed unevenly may pull the sheet out of position or change how nearby keys travel. Internal supports and fasteners should locate the rubber without trapping its moving sections. Evaluate the keypad with the housing fully secured, including larger keys and controls at the edges.

For dust or water exposed use, assess the completed boundary around the keypad and any other enclosure openings. Silicone material alone does not establish a device protection rating. The fitted perimeter and the moving controls need to satisfy their intended functions at the same time, so sealing assessment should use the same assembly condition as the key operation assessment.

Check typing sequences across neighboring keys and different regions of the layout. The rubber should return freely between actions rather than rely on the user lifting or shifting the sheet. Keep internal surfaces clean during assembly, and choose the formulation for the expected handling and cleaning conditions. Replacement should preserve the complete sheet outline, support relationships, and key positions rather than match only the visible tops.

Material options
Silicone. Custom formulation and color for the intended contact conditions.
Hardness selection
Silicone: 20–80 Shore A. A perimeter that is compressed unevenly may pull the sheet out of position or change how nearby keys travel.
Custom dimensions
For dust or water exposed use, assess the completed boundary around the keypad and any other enclosure openings.
Fit & assembly

Use & inspection
Keep internal surfaces clean during assembly, and choose the formulation for the expected handling and cleaning conditions.

Review material & tooling

Agree the compound and manufacturing approach

03

Evaluate the sample

Review the fit and agreed requirements in the assembly

04

Produce & inspect

Manufacture and check against the approved requirements

Review the intended assembly

Working conditions

Identify temperature, contact fluids and repeated movement.

Material and structure

Consider hardness together with wall thickness and support.

Installation

Check access, mating dimensions and the fitting sequence.

Ordering this custom component

Can the shape be adjusted to my mating parts?

Yes. Show the receiving opening, contact surfaces and clearance limits. We can review the dimensions and retaining features around the intended fit.

Which details should be agreed before tooling?

Agree the critical dimensions, material, hardness, visible surfaces and sample requirements. Explain how the part is installed and which interfaces control its function.

Can a sample help define the replacement?

A sample can help explain the structure. Compare it with the assembly because wear, swelling or compression may have changed its original dimensions.

How is the quotation for this part determined?

The material, part geometry, tooling, quantity and finishing affect the quotation. Include the intended batch size and delivery destination when describing your requirements.
