Match the attachment and installation method
Custom silicone rubber oblong grommets follow an elongated opening with a molded retaining profile. Their length, width, and end curvature can be adapted to the receiving panel, while the central geometry suits the intended passage. The groove should engage the panel edge around the full outline.
Installation access can differ between the straight sides and rounded ends. Work the profile into position without leaving an end tucked behind the panel or one long lip folded into the groove. Inspect the side that is least visible during fitting, since the front flange may look complete even when the rear retention is uneven.
The silicone formulation and hardness should suit the location and the fitting method. Excessive softness should not be used to compensate for a mismatched cutout, and stretching the body can alter the center geometry. Once the passing component is routed, check that it has not pulled the grommet away from its seat. Keep the panel edge clean and finished, and preserve the correct profile when replacing a worn or damaged part.
