Product Overview

A silicone washer and a nitrile gasket can share an outline while requiring separate material selection; nitrile rubber is also known as NBR. This custom component can be produced for a defined joint, with its rubber formulation established alongside its dimensions. Choosing between the versions begins with what reaches the rubber during operation and maintenance.

Identify the contacting medium, cleaning substances and temperature at the joint. Include occasional exposure when the equipment is opened or serviced, since the underside of a washer may encounter a cleaner that never reaches it during normal operation. The chosen formulation should suit that complete sequence.

Keep the material identity associated with the washer size during assembly. Color can help organize variants, but similarly colored rings should not be mixed when their compounds differ. A replacement made from another rubber requires its own assessment, even if it drops into the same recess.

After material selection, establish the intended compressed thickness and the faces that support it. Check the finished joint under the relevant operating conditions. When a removed ring has swollen or changed shape, inspect the exposure as well as the fit rather than copying its altered dimensions for the next part.

Material options
NBR / Silicone. Custom formulation and color for the intended contact conditions.
Hardness selection
Rubber: 30–90 Shore A. Silicone: 20–80 Shore A. After material selection, establish the intended compressed thickness and the faces that support it.
Custom dimensions

Fit & assembly
When a removed ring has swollen or changed shape, inspect the exposure as well as the fit rather than copying its altered dimensions for the next part.
Use & inspection
Include occasional exposure when the equipment is opened or serviced, since the underside of a washer may encounter a cleaner that never reaches it during normal operation.

Ordering this custom component

Can the shape be adjusted to my mating parts?

Yes. Show the receiving opening, contact surfaces and clearance limits. We can review the dimensions and retaining features around the intended fit.

Which details should be agreed before tooling?

Agree the critical dimensions, material, hardness, visible surfaces and sample requirements. Explain how the part is installed and which interfaces control its function.

Can a sample help define the replacement?

A sample can help explain the structure. Compare it with the assembly because wear, swelling or compression may have changed its original dimensions.

How is the quotation for this part determined?

The material, part geometry, tooling, quantity and finishing affect the quotation. Include the intended batch size and delivery destination when describing your requirements.
