A cone silicone rubber grommet forms a tapered protective route through an automotive panel. Its orientation needs to suit the harness direction once nearby clips and components are in their final positions. Custom profile, material and color choices allow the entry to follow that installed arrangement.
Locate the broad retaining region first and let the narrow section point naturally toward the cable support. Avoid rotating the cone under tension after the mounting lip is fully seated. Check the assembly again when trim and brackets are installed, since those features can change the available cable space. The exit should not be pressed into a sharp bend or trapped against a rigid part. During servicing, preserve the intended clip positions rather than shortening the route by pulling the harness tight. Inspect the narrow end for rubbing and the panel edge for a lifted lip. If either develops, correct the surrounding route before selecting a different hardness to compensate for the same interference.
