A firewall cable position can be unused in one vehicle configuration and occupied in another. A custom blank rubber grommet closes the unused opening while preserving a defined panel interface. The blank part should remain associated with that configuration throughout assembly and service.
Identify the opening before selecting the insert. A nearby cable passage may look similar but use a different internal structure or material. Keep the blanking center intact, and distinguish its part identity from the developed wired version so an assembly change does not become an improvised cut through the rubber.
When the vehicle layout changes, review what passes through the opening and how the new route is supported. The correct entry can require a different bore, protected length or attachment profile while retaining a similar outer flange. Any required barrier behavior also belongs to that revised complete arrangement.
During maintenance, check that the installed closure still corresponds to the actual configuration. Inspect the area after neighboring harness work, when a blank insert may have been displaced or replaced temporarily. Select its compound for the conditions on both sides of the firewall and preserve the designated profile when restoring the opening.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. The correct entry can require a different bore, protected length or attachment profile while retaining a similar outer flange. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
