Match the attachment and installation method
A waterproof silicone rubber grommet should be evaluated at the temperature and exposure of its installed entry. The rubber, cable covering, and panel can change their contact as the equipment heats and cools. Match the selected silicone formulation and geometry to that actual cycle rather than assessing only a loose part at room temperature.
Check the panel cutout, supporting thickness, and finished cable size. Keep the cable route from lifting the retaining edge as surrounding components move. Where water resistance is required, include both the outer panel seat and inner passage in the complete entry assessment.
Install on a clean edge and inspect for a folded lip before access is restricted. Check the seat again after the harness supports are secured and after representative operation. During maintenance, distinguish damage caused by rubbing from deterioration associated with the environment. A larger or tighter replacement should not be used automatically, since it may increase distortion at one contact while failing to correct the temperature or routing condition affecting the entry.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. The rubber, cable covering, and panel can change their contact as the equipment heats and cools. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
