A rubber cable grommet should be checked with its outer seat engaged in the actual opening. Compression from the panel can change the inner passage, making the installed contact different from a cable passed through a loose part. The custom profile should coordinate those two interfaces rather than selecting them independently by approximate diameter.
Measure the finished panel thickness and the cable covering at the entry. Include any sleeve or wrap that stays beneath the grommet. A closed plug version needs separate identification where the same enclosure uses blanked openings as well as active cable passages.
Install on a smooth edge and keep the lip evenly seated. Arrange the cable without pulling it sharply sideways, then inspect the passage and outer rim again. During service, reassess the fit if the covering or route changes. Avoid enlarging the opening in the rubber by an irregular cut, which can leave a poor contact edge instead of providing the controlled passage the revised cable arrangement needs.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. Compression from the panel can change the inner passage, making the installed contact different from a cable passed through a loose part. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
