An EPDM tapered rubber grommet forms a custom entry for an automotive cable route. Its broad mounting area and narrower passage should match the panel and cable respectively. If flame resistance is required, the selected compound and finished geometry must remain defined through that customization.
Orient the taper along the actual cable route and leave enough room for the exit without a sharp bend. Fit the retained region around the complete opening before securing nearby wiring. The material choice should address the vehicle location's thermal and environmental conditions in addition to any specified flame behavior. A title describing fire resistance does not establish an assembly classification.
Evaluate the finished entry with its real panel and harness. Avoid trimming the tapered wall to make a termination fit, because that changes the geometry selected for the application. During service, look for rubbing at the narrow end and a lifted mounting edge. Keep replacements consistent with the evaluated compound and shape, and reassess the part if a wiring or panel revision changes its working conditions.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. The broad mounting area and narrower passage should match the panel and cable respectively. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
