An EPDM rubber cable grommet can be customized in different sizes while preserving a common mounting interface where the enclosure design allows. The cable bore and panel groove should be treated as separate dimensions. A larger cable does not necessarily require a wider groove if the panel thickness remains unchanged.
For a size range, define the cable and panel combination assigned to each version. Check whether the larger bore leaves sufficient rubber around the retaining region and whether the outside flange still has room beside neighboring features. The EPDM formulation should suit the exposure at the installation.
Evaluate each version with its intended cable rather than assuming that a successful small size proves the larger geometry. During assembly, identification through suitable color or marking can help distinguish similar parts. Inspect the seated lip after the cable supports are secured, and check that the passage is not pulled into an offset shape. When servicing a different cable size, review the assigned grommet version instead of stretching the nearest available part to make it fit.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. A larger cable does not necessarily require a wider groove if the panel thickness remains unchanged. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
