An extruded rubber seal is useful when a consistent profile must follow a length of contact surface. The cross section determines how it sits in the assembly, while the cut length and end arrangement determine whether that contact continues around the whole joint. A well chosen profile still needs a deliberate solution at corners and meeting ends.
Select the section around the groove or retaining feature and the compression available when the assembly closes. Bending a profile too tightly can change its shape at a corner, leaving less contact where it is most difficult to inspect. Plan the route with the actual corner radii rather than measuring only the straight edges.
Fit the length without pulling it taut to reach the final position. Stretch introduced during installation can later leave an end gap. Keep cuts clean and follow the intended joining arrangement where ends meet. After closing the assembly, inspect for local buckling or areas that escape their seat.
