A Firewall hole plug should be selected for the designated opening and the requirements of the complete surrounding assembly. The silicone or rubber body needs a retained profile that remains seated under the intended exposure, while the installation location does not itself establish a fire-resistance or sealing rating for the plug.
Define whether the opening is to remain closed or serve a routed component. A solid closure and a grommet passage are different configurations and should not be converted by an improvised cut. Select the compound and dimensions for the actual joint and environment.
Install the part using the assembly's designated method and inspect the retained edge before access is enclosed. Keep the surrounding features and clearances consistent with the equipment design. During servicing, replace a damaged plug with the specified configuration rather than a similar cap chosen only by outside diameter. If the opening's use changes, review the required closure arrangement before modifying the original part to accommodate it.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. A solid closure and a grommet passage are different configurations and should not be converted by an improvised cut. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
