A transparent rubber thick washer combines a visible silicone section with the dimensions required by an annular joint. The thicker body may change the clarity and flexibility compared with a thinner sample, so both appearance and installed fit should be evaluated in the actual section intended for use.
Develop the bore, outside area and free thickness around the mating components and the required closed height. Select the formulation for the joint exposure rather than treating transparency as a material-performance specification. A ring intended for a shaped groove should be defined separately from a flat washer profile.
Check the washer after the joint reaches its designed assembly position. Look at the visible perimeter for uneven movement, but also examine alignment at the bore before access is lost. During replacement, compare the original section dimensions with the used part, which may have taken a lasting set. Clean the supporting faces before fitting the new washer so retained residue does not change its effective height.
