Rubber grommets for cable sealing can be customized to fit metal or wood cutouts and place a flexible interface around the cable. Structure, dimensions, hardness and color can follow the application. The outer fit needs to retain the grommet at the cutout, while the inner region must suit the cable passing through it.
Inspect the cutout before installation. Rubber provides an interface against abrasion and wear, but sharp burrs or splinters should still be removed. Match the retaining section to the supporting thickness so the part does not sit loosely or fold at one edge.
Check the cable in its normal routed position. A tight bend beside the opening can pull against the grommet and change its seat. Where sealing is required, evaluate that complete cable and grommet interface under the intended conditions, including any gaps around the routed bundle.
During maintenance, examine both the cable contact area and the retaining perimeter. Wear on one side may indicate a routing issue rather than a material problem alone. Clean the seat before refitting and replace damaged rubber with the correct profile. Keep any separate cable restraint appropriate to the assembly so the protective grommet is not expected to absorb unintended pulling forces.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. The outer fit needs to retain the grommet at the cutout, while the inner region must suit the cable passing through it. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
