Match the attachment and installation method
A Buna-N stopper can be custom molded for an opening whose contents and conditions suit the selected compound. EPDM plugs are another material option within this closure offering. The choice between them should follow the specific medium, temperature, and expected contact duration rather than the general appearance of the part.
Once the material requirement is established, define the opening, usable depth, and retained shape. The exposed area should remain accessible for the intended installation and removal method. Custom color or identification can help distinguish variants when different compounds are used in otherwise similar assemblies.
Fit the stopper on a clean mating surface and check that its stopping feature reaches the intended seat. Do not force an approximately sized plug into place to compensate for a profile mismatch. During servicing, inspect the inserted section for swelling, cuts, or lasting distortion. Keep replacement parts identified by their specified material and full geometry so that a visually similar closure is not substituted into a different chemical or temperature environment.
Photos illustrate structure or material appearance only. Once the material requirement is established, define the opening, usable depth, and retained shape. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
FIND THE RIGHT FIT
Choose a blind-hole, tapered, undercut or solid T-shaped profile, then compare its dimensions with the opening and available seating depth. Each profile has its own drawing and dimension meanings.
155 T-shaped plug sizes. Match shank diameter A, head diameter B, shank length C and head thickness D. E is the bottom blind-hole diameter; E = 0 indicates a solid shank.
