A custom silicone bumper creates a flexible contact point in industrial equipment. Neoprene and other rubber choices are available as alternative material configurations. The starting point for the design is the surface that will actually meet the bumper, including its shape and direction of approach.
A broad flat mating surface can engage the rubber differently from a narrow edge. The bumper face should have enough usable area for that contact without allowing the neighboring component to slip past it. Its seat must also hold the part in the intended position as contact is repeated. Review the assembled clearance to ensure that the rubber is reached before any unintended hard contact occurs.
Compound selection should follow the local environment and the intended deformation. Similar-looking versions need their own assessment if the material changes. During maintenance, keep the face free of hard debris and inspect its attachment. A bumper that has moved sideways can lose useful contact area even if its thickness appears unchanged.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. A bumper that has moved sideways can lose useful contact area even if its thickness appears unchanged. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
