A rubber hole grommet can form a fitted cover for an unused opening, with a shaped insert that engages the receiving edge. The visible flange is only one part of the fit. The section inside the hole and any retaining groove determine how the piece seats, how securely it remains in place, and whether it sits evenly against the surrounding surface.
Measure the opening where the plug will engage, including wall thickness and any chamfer or irregular edge. For a pipe-related cover, establish whether the part fits inside a bore or over an outside diameter; these arrangements use different mating dimensions. Do not select an insert solely because its top face appears wide enough to hide the hole.
Insert the part squarely and examine the full perimeter for a rolled lip or uneven seating. A rough cut edge should be addressed before assembly, since flexible material can conceal an edge that gradually damages it. Where the opening needs a defined seal or retention level, evaluate the assembled joint under those conditions. Appearance alone cannot show whether a closure will resist leakage or displacement.
Photos illustrate structure or material appearance only. A rubber hole grommet plug is a shaped closure for an opening that needs a flexible fitted insert. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
FIND THE RIGHT FIT
Choose a blind-hole, tapered, undercut or solid T-shaped profile, then compare its dimensions with the opening and available seating depth. Each profile has its own drawing and dimension meanings.
155 T-shaped plug sizes. Match shank diameter A, head diameter B, shank length C and head thickness D. E is the bottom blind-hole diameter; E = 0 indicates a solid shank.
