Product Overview

Custom silicone rubber prototype switch buttons let a control geometry be assessed with its intended housing and actuation arrangement. The useful evaluation includes the support beneath the switch as well as the feel of the molded button itself.

ETOL can customize dimensions, shape, color and selected material construction. Establish the design features under review, such as resting clearance, key height or edge guidance. Compare versions in the same assembled conditions so a change in housing support does not obscure the effect of the button geometry.

Check center and off-center presses, return after release and response through the actual circuit. Inspect the flexible web for stretching introduced during fitting. A prototype that works while held loosely should also be assessed with the cover and fasteners in their intended positions.

Keep the contact and visible surfaces clean between assembly trials. If a key binds, identify whether the cause is its profile, the panel opening or the internal stack rather than trimming several regions at once. The resulting production part should follow the evaluated geometry. Replace damaged trial components when assessing fit so a torn or permanently stretched sample does not give a misleading impression of the intended response.

Material options
Silicone. Custom formulation and color for the intended contact conditions.
Hardness selection
Silicone: 20–80 Shore A. Check center and off-center presses, return after release and response through the actual circuit.
Custom dimensions
If a key binds, identify whether the cause is its profile, the panel opening or the internal stack rather than trimming several regions at once.
Fit & assembly
Compare versions in the same assembled conditions so a change in housing support does not obscure the effect of the button geometry.
Use & inspection
Replace damaged trial components when assessing fit so a torn or permanently stretched sample does not give a misleading impression of the intended response.

From part requirements to production

01

Define the part

Identify key dimensions, mating surfaces and quantity

02

Review material & tooling

Agree the compound and manufacturing approach

03

Evaluate the sample

Review the fit and agreed requirements in the assembly

04

Produce & inspect

Manufacture and check against the approved requirements

Review the intended assembly

Working conditions

Identify temperature, contact fluids and repeated movement.

Material and structure

Consider hardness together with wall thickness and support.

Installation

Check access, mating dimensions and the fitting sequence.

Ordering this custom component

Can the shape be adjusted to my mating parts?

Yes. Show the receiving opening, contact surfaces and clearance limits. We can review the dimensions and retaining features around the intended fit.

Which details should be agreed before tooling?

Agree the critical dimensions, material, hardness, visible surfaces and sample requirements. Explain how the part is installed and which interfaces control its function.

Can a sample help define the replacement?

A sample can help explain the structure. Compare it with the assembly because wear, swelling or compression may have changed its original dimensions.

How is the quotation for this part determined?

The material, part geometry, tooling, quantity and finishing affect the quotation. Include the intended batch size and delivery destination when describing your requirements.
