A Waterproof electronic keypad combines a flexible control surface with an interface intended to manage moisture at the front of an enclosure. The silicone part can be customized in size, color and molded identification. Its perimeter and the areas that flex during a press need different treatment in the enclosure design.

The retaining or sealing region should sit on a continuous, clean surface. Let the moving keys operate without dragging that region out of position. A housing rib pressing on the wrong part of the rubber can make a button difficult to use while leaving another section of the perimeter inadequately seated.

Evaluate the intended moisture resistance with the complete enclosure assembled, because no ingress rating is assigned to this component here. Include normal button presses in that assessment rather than checking only an untouched panel. During service, remove debris from the seating surface and examine the rubber for nicks before refitting it. A keypad that has been pinched beneath the bezel should be corrected before the electronic unit is returned to use.
