A small size rubber damper supplies a compliant element where the mounting space is restricted. Its custom form should fit both the working location and the method used to install it. In a compact assembly, access for positioning the part can be more limited than the space available once it is seated.
Review the installation path before finalizing the shape. A narrow tool opening may encourage pulling on an exposed rubber edge, which can distort the part or leave it only partly fitted. The design should provide a practical way to act on the intended seating surface. Once installed, the damper needs room for its working deformation without rubbing neighboring components.
The selected material should suit the local contact conditions, and the assembly should be assessed under its intended load. Small dimensions do not imply a particular load rating. During servicing, inspect for a trapped edge or displaced part before closing the assembly, especially where the damper becomes concealed by the next component.
