Custom bushings and grommet for engine applications need to be developed around the movement and exposure at their specific mounting location. A protective wiring interface near an engine has different duties from a loaded mechanical bushing, even when the molded parts look similar. Define that function before selecting the profile and compound.
For a cable passage, check movement between the engine and nearby fixed structure. The cable supports and rubber interface should allow the intended route without pulling the part against one side of the opening. For a mechanically loaded arrangement, evaluate the complete joint, including sleeves, washers and travel limits.
Neoprene is associated with this product, and custom material options are available. Local heat, fluid contact and repeated deformation should guide the final selection. Measure clearances with adjacent components in their working positions, not just during an unobstructed bench fit.
After representative operation, examine contact marks on both the rubber and nearby rigid surfaces. A polished patch or repeated edge damage can reveal movement that was not apparent during assembly. Correct the underlying clearance or support condition before treating another identical molded part as the full solution.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. The cable supports and rubber interface should allow the intended route without pulling the part against one side of the opening. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
