Small silicone rubber cable grommets provide a molded interface between wiring and a panel opening. Their bore, retaining groove and outer lip should suit the actual cable and finished wall thickness. Where fire performance is required, the selected formulation and complete entry arrangement need assessment for that specific requirement.
Custom dimensions, material, hardness and color allow the part to follow the OEM assembly. Define the local temperature and exposure alongside the cable jacket and panel material. A silicone grommet should not be assigned a fire rating solely from its material family or appearance.
During fitting, inspect the opening for burrs and seat the retaining region fully. Check the cable passage after nearby supports are secured so routing tension does not lift a lip. Keep the developed material configuration identified during production and replacement. During maintenance, examine the hidden groove as well as the visible flange for damage. Any change to the cable, opening or surrounding construction should prompt a review of the complete protective entry arrangement.
