Silicone cable rubber grommets provide a flexible surface where a cable passes through a cutout. The sleeve-style entry should guide the jacket without presenting another abrupt edge immediately beyond the panel. The range supports custom structure, size, hardness and color.
Silicone and neoprene are alternative materials for custom versions, with the compound selected for its operating surroundings. Include expected contact with cleaning products when defining that choice for the finished component. Its fit should also suit the cable jacket rather than relying on softness to accommodate an oversized lead.
Look at the entrance and exit of the sleeve in the assembled enclosure. The cable should not have to make a tight turn against the end of the rubber. Include enough external space for the intended route and keep the sleeve clear of nearby moving components.
When threading a cable, avoid catching an exposed terminal on the inside wall. Check afterward for a rolled opening or stretched retaining section. If the cable is pulled during servicing, reinspect both the panel engagement and the sleeve end before closing the equipment.
