An oval rubber grommet can be custom developed for a cable route through an elongated opening. The long dimension, short dimension and end contours should match the panel cutout, while the retaining profile needs to suit the panel thickness. The center passage should accommodate the intended cable arrangement without pulling the grommet from its seat.
Check the rounded ends as well as the straight or gently curved sides during fitting. An oblong profile can appear settled along one side while a narrow end remains folded. Remove burrs from the opening before installation and inspect the full perimeter after the cables are routed.
Select the finished rubber for the actual environment and cable contact. The cable's natural bend should not create constant sideways force at the panel edge. During maintenance, look for wear where the route changes direction and for a lip that has lifted at either end. Replace damaged parts with the correct contour rather than stretching a shorter grommet to span the opening.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. The long dimension, short dimension and end contours should match the panel cutout, while the retaining profile needs to suit the panel thickness. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
FIND THE RIGHT FIT
Choose a through-hole or blind-hole profile, then compare the dimensions for your panel and cable arrangement.
